Inspirational Poet Melissa R. Martin, Author of Trapped in My Pen, (released 2008, Candalyse Publishing) is set to release her second book.Melissa R. Martin has a lot to be grateful for. Her strong faith and unwavering perseverance enabled her to escape a violent marriage and begin her life anew. Her first book, Trapped in My Pen, has received worldwide acclaim and is empowering women to take a stand against domestic violence.
When the storms of life are raging
In the midst of churning seas
When I’m going under for the third time
A voice whispers to me
Fear not my weary my little one
Be not troubled, nor be afraid
Trust in the One who only speaks
And the wind and seas obey
Skies may darken, winds may blow
Tough times, hard to get through
But mountain tops and light houses
Are always within view
The anchor holds you securely
Still holding, in spite of the storm
Morning is coming, I’m right here with you
And no one will cause you harm
Your boat may drift aimlessly
Take you treacherously from the shore
But abide in me, and I will see
You safely home once more
Storms of life, they come and go
The valleys are before you too
But mountain tops and light houses
Are always within view.

“Having been clean and sober more than 21 years of my life at this writing, I firmly believe that it was all a part of God’s grand plan for me to live while so many had to die… and possibly for two reasons.
I believe the first reason is for me to be able to pass on the message of hope to others still suffering from any addictions.
Once I became capable of understanding that I wasn’t just simply weak or crazy, but that I Read the rest of this entry »

Are You Searching?
Human beings are constantly in search of - something.
Many of us are unaware what it is that we are searching for until we actually find it. It is at this time that the proverbial bright light bulb goes off in our heads and we say “That’s it!” Most of our lives, we are in search of inner peace, contentment, happiness, tranquility and joy.
Yet sadly, for many individuals, the search for serenity and peace is as elusive as catching a rabbit in a fox hunt.
Your search is over!

When author and poet Melissa R. Martin decided to publish her amazing life’s journey through domestic violence at the hands of her first husband, she knew that her words would touch many lives. Released on April 25, 2008, Trapped in My Pen ( Candalyse Publishing-2008) received an immediate, positive response. Melissa was asked to speak to the fifth grade at a local school. The topic was on publishing and Melissa had the opportunity to share first-hand knowledge of the publishing process with her young audience.
Melissa was asked by the youth why she came to Kansas, why she named her book Trapped in My Pen, and what inspired her poetry. The children were attentive and receptive to Mrs. Martin’s words, showing Read the rest of this entry »

“I’ve made a lot of mistakes in my life, who hasn’t. I can’t change my past, have learned a great deal from it. I sold drugs throughout my teenage years, dropped out of high school, and just wasted valuable time. I was academically gifted, just lost – without direction.
