April 2008 proved to be a record breaking month in the history of Candalyse Publishing, the independent publishing company founded by Miriam L. Jacobs.

- Jason A. Dingus, author of My Judge and Jury: Convicted For My Differences (Candalyse Publishing, 2008), is an inspiration to many. He possesses the strength of character that many, much older than he is, only wish they had. Perhaps, it was the constant verbal and physical abuse suffered at the hands of small town folk who refused to accept his differences. Or, maybe his strength comes from his strong desire to show others that we are all the same in reality and we must accept those who appear different. When author and poet Melissa R. Martin decided to publish her amazing life’s journey through domestic violence at the hands of her first husband, she knew that her words would touch many lives. Released on April 25, 2008, Trapped in My Pen ( Candalyse Publishing-2008) received an immediate, positive response. Melissa was asked to speak to the fifth grade at a local school. The topic was on publishing and Melissa had the opportunity to share first-hand knowledge of the publishing process with her young audience.

Melissa R. Martin is the proud mother of two wonderful sons. She owns and operates a daycare with her husband, Ken. Melissa grew up in a little town called Pound, Virginia. She loved school and graduated with honors and she loves to write!
Jason A. Dingus was born in Norton, Virginia, on August 22, 1982, one of two boys, to Newton and Linda Dingus. His mother was dedicated to raising two boys, which at times became a difficult task. His father was a hard working man, and still works today as a Cable Lineman, a job he has had for the past 27 years. Jason’s home was a little town called Pound, Virginia, a place where the population was a little over a thousand people. It was a quiet little town, where the most action seen, was at the local High School football games, on Friday nights.
Jason attended Pound High School, where he graduated in 2001. One of the greatest influences on his writing was his high school Honors English teacher, Pamela Gilmer. She is one of the two influences on Jason’s writing. Read the rest of this entry »
