I No Longer Color My Hair -A Memoir

Posted by candalyse on December 11, 2010

I No Longer Color My Hair

Tess is a young woman living an amazing life, only she doesn’t know how amazing it is. Plagued with self-doubt, low self-esteem, major insecurities, and multiple phobias, she goes through life living in a self-induced hell.

When her father dies from a tragic accident she experiences loss, but mistakes it for abandonment. She falls into the arms of men, attempting to find love, marrying multiple times – each man exactly like her father.

Just when Tess thinks that her life can’t get any lower, she is hit with a string of personal adversities, each worse than the one before it. She feels lost, alone, and desperate to end it all at her own hand.

Feeling like an amateur boxer in the ring with Life, she is no match for her opponent. She is intensely unprepared, with poor coping skills. Her tool box is nearly empty except for booze, men, and excuses to remain a victim of circumstance.

  • Does Tess have what it takes to pull from deep within the strength and courage to take action to change her life before she kills herself?
  • What happens to raise her awareness that if it doesn’t kill you it can only make you stronger?

A Song for Me- Eclectic, Beautiful Susan E. Henry

Posted by candalyse on December 11, 2010

A Sing for Me

Susn E. Henry

An eclectic blend of poems, A Song for Me is the debut collection from poet Susan E. Henry.

Prevalent in Henry’s poetry is the theme of nature, but other poems explore romance, relationships, spirituality, and pure whimsy.

The works collected in A Song for Me have been composed over a span of twenty years, and illustrate the range of the poet’s inspirations.

Introduction

I am certain I’m not alone in this. At some point, it has happened to all of us. You live through, or bear witness to, a moment and experience this feeling. A feeling of , “Oh, wow, something amazing is going to happen as a result of this,” and then once it does, with soaring spirit you exclaim, “I knew it!!!”
That moment plays out for me in the following pages. Too many years ago to admit, a fellow classmate shared with me, her poetry; poetry which stirred my soul with how beautifully our own native tongue could be penned; poetry which expressed life with such simplicity and poignancy that it left me with an insatiable thirst for more. I knew at that moment this was something destined to warm and beautify our world.
A touch of color where too often everything is black and white, a calming escape, an excuse to slow down, and look around. A Song for Me is a stirring collection of such poetry, which you could never just sit down to simply read, but sit down to simply feel. Take some time to really soak up some life within these pages.

Take some time, and maybe notice life in a way that you have never noticed it before, or sit back in your chair and sigh in agreement. “Ain’t that the truth.”
